About Me

I have been in the crazy world of radio broadcasting since 1998, working at stations like KYGO, KFRG, KSON, KUSS, and WFUS. In short, I'm blessed to be on this Earth; striving to make a difference, force someone to think, create a smile, initiate a conversation, and doing it with the encouragement of family and friends so thank you!

Born to an almost crazy stay-at-home mother and an always gone-at-work father, Melissa Bunting came into this world screaming two months early. First to the finish-line, so to speak. These sorts of achievements didn't stop there.

1) Learned to read at age three. Would share current events and TV guide listings over cereal each morning because my mom couldn't cook.

2) First in my family to have parents sue the school district because their precious snowflake got the tar beat out of her in third grade. Only cool thing was that I got to rock my mom's Vuarnets to school to cover my wicked shiner.

3) First in my group of friends to have their knees touch because I REALLY liked food.

4) Managed to get REALLY good grades in school thanks to me charming my teachers and despite my undiagnosed social anxiety.

5) First of my friends -- and I'll admit it -- to have to take medication to regulate my moods. Now everyone these days has some sort of mental disorder. One out of four, they say. I can also go without eating. Yet another reason I'm on 'candy.'

I could go on and on, but that's just a tease. I've always been an over-achiever and a passionate perfectionist, which is both good and bad. Good because really, who doesn't love excellence but bad, because when I politely demand the same from others -- well, wait --I've found a lot of people don't want to achieve excellence. Too much work, perhaps? Scary? I can't figure it out.

I have a drive to excel and learn from someone who is willing to mentor. I accept and use criticisms to succeed and grow. And why the hell is it that I only attract married men and men who are old enough to be my grandpa? What is it about me? In addition to strengthening what I'm already good at, I'd like to solve this never-ending problem and someday be married to a man in my own age group who doesn't have a wife or girlfriend in another state. Is that too much to ask? I have one engagement gone bad so far, but I kept the ring.

And now to the good stuff! I've been called a great leader and I enjoy working in creative environments. I sincerely enjoy connecting with people and making that connection that lasts, and in today's marketplace, it's so important to make a connection that makes your consumer want to come back to you and you alone.
