=An overall view of BlackRock?>
The culture here is very work friendly. I get the chance to work with directors as much as I worked with analysts. People are very supportive. However, there is not much diversity both racially and gender wise. Some groups are largely male while groups like client management and HR are mostly female.
Base salary is around $65,000 with around $15,000 of bonus after 6 months. Interns gets paid around $700/wk. It's decent compensation. But considering the number of hours put in, it's about average.
BlackRock operates very thin. There is a lot of work to be done but not enough people to do it. 12 hour days are normal. Sundays are mandatory, though most people work both days of the weekend. It's about 70 hours per week of work on average.
It's a typical I-Banking interview process. First, there is a phone interview or an on campus interview. This is mostly behavioral questions to get a general feel of the candidate. Then, it moves onto the super interview day. It's generally about 5 to 8 interviews with a range of people. In this round it's generally technical questions mixed with whatever the interviewer feels like to ask. Be sure to know the firm and know what you are talking about. Also, be sure to practice interviews before hand so you are fully prepared. In general, this process is pretty rough and competitive.
Growth is amost none existent. There is a extremely high turn over rate. People usually last around 2 years before they are burnt out and move on. It seems to be the operating habit of the firm. The firm continuously brings in a lot of young people and the cycle continues.
