=An overall view of ZS Associates?>
Work can vary greatly. During good times, I'll work as little as 50 hours a week. When I get staffed on a very busy client with lots of deadlines, I can expect to work up to 90 hours a week. It is the consulting lifestyle. I just live with it.
ZS is a fantastic place to work at. Every Consultant at the office really has ZS pride. The company also does a great job in making sure every employee knows what's going on with the company and understands all of the policies. At ZS, you will work hard hours, not travel much, have time for friends and family, and be promoted in a timely manner. I am very happy with the company.
I am an Associate Consultant at ZS and get a salary of $90,000 and a bonus of $8,000.
The work/life balance is great at ZS. I have never felt over worked or burnt out; instead, I constantly feel challenged and pushed to learn and grow more.
The Managers and Partners at ZS are very accessible. We have a relaxed company culture, but work very hard at the same time. The culture within your team depends on the Manager that you are working with. I have been able to maintain a strong life outside of work - I get to play on sports teams and volunteer at organizations without any problems with work.
We do not have an up or out culture; however, we can quickly tell who is fit for the company and who is not fit for the company. Those who don't add value or who don't fit with the company culture are quickly weeded out. You will receive a promotion every 2 years depending on how well you perform.
The people are very smart here. It is a competitive but collaborative environment. Travel time is very minimal and we only go to the client site when absolutely necessary. I like the advancement policy within ZS. All promotions are merit based, and there is no up or out policy. If someone is struggling or brining to the team down, ZS will offer training programs and guidance to get them to perform better. Good company overall.
I interned with ZS in 2006. I received $950 a week which was great for an internship.
The people that I work with are absolutely great. There is always opportunity to move forward and grow with the company. The office is very young, and people go out together after work very often. Traveling is only required when it is necessary, we do not have a 4 days out of the week travel system.
On average, you will have a two year promotion timeframe. If you work extremely hard and network your way in the company very well, you will be promoted in less than two years. This happens occasionally, and only to those who really deserve it.
I am an Associate at ZS and get $85,000 with a bonus of $8,000.
There seems to be a lot of disparity between the pay of Associates in the company.

Promotions only happen during a certain window. Even if you are excelling at your position, you have to wait your 2 years before you get promoted. There are pros with not having an up or out policy, but I wish we had it so that I could get promoted faster.
Professionals at ZS work in a close team environment. If someone finishes their work early, they will stick around and help the team so that everyone can go home at the same time. ZS is a very flexible company that understands you have your own personal agenda.
We do not travel often at ZS. Although, it is nice that we get to stay home and enjoy sleeping in our own beds, I do wish I got to travel more often and live the "consultant" lifestyle. I don't know of any consultants who have traveled internationally here at ZS.
