=An overall view of Weyerhaeuser Company?>
It is quite difficult to get in. First due to the slowdown in the housing market and hence the lumber industry the hiring is very slim, moreover due to the specialized nature of the company its hard to find a matching position. The company was actualy working towards reducing its head count.
As an Intern my job was very varied and spanned accross a number of different projects. Had to make a lot of trips to the mills. Some of the projects were great and required creativity and analysis, but some were grunt work. The expectations were not set right and led to some mismatch. My manager was a very nice person which made things easier.
it was below expectations. The company was not doing too well which might explain that a little, but compared to what my peers were getting in their respective places, it was not very satisfying. The perks were not that great either.
When I was there it was all about safety. Most people working there were nice and it was somewhat relaxed and open atmosphere, but I have a feeling that it was only at the surface.
There were safety signs all over the place and it was almost getting ridiculous to some extent.

This is a very large company with quite a bit of vertical structure which makes it hard to grow within the company. On the flip side a large percentage of the employees are nearing retirement age and thus might have many open positions which will trickle down to all levels and provide opportunity for growth.
