The hours at Bain are long and the work can be stressful. Because of the merit based system (your compared to your peers all the time), it can get a little cut-throat at times and I've seen Consultants try to step on each other just to get ahead. Outwardly, you'll see a close and friendly company; internally, the employees are aggressive and do what they must to get ahead.

I work about the same amount of hours as an Investment Banker but get paid much less. This is discouraging and makes me wish I had chosen I-Banking instead.
