=An overall view of Starbucks Corporation?>
I applied twice for barista, and I have to say, it is really easy.
basically there is a career fair once in awhile, (very active in summer).
so you bring your resume there and you can have your first interview right away.
once you passed the first interview, the second interview will be a piece of cake.
starbucks is looking for people who has a positive attitude and welcoming, rather than what school you go to, or how much leadership you have.

Minimum wage, but with tips, it amassed to many dollars more! Great as a part-time job to make ends meet or just for some extra cash.
The company emphasizes the friendliness and convenience of its services, and this is reflected in the way their employees are treated. Surely, the job is one that may become rather stressful during busy times, but everybody I worked with was very supportive, including the supervisors. Overall, I think working for Starbucks Corp. was fun and rewarding, and it's perfect for all those coffee-holics out there (one free drink per shift)!
To become a Starbucks worker, you need to take a class on coffee! So everybody who works there is very knowledgeble and can answer any customers questions regarding coffee or Starbucks drinks and make valid recomendations.
I worked as a barista for a short time during school and had many friends who did the same, and while I wouldn't want to stay in that position forever it certainly served its purpose very well. I always received a little better than minimum wage (at 17, mind you!) and I hear these days it's about $5-7 above minimum, plus tips. Also, anyone who works 20hrs gets great health benefits, etc. A fantastic place to work if you're a student. My dad has also been a corporate manager for over 10 years and still enjoys it.
To become a assitant store manager or supervisor is fairly easy in each store.
as long as you have sufficient availability and contribution, (and, of course, the store manager has to like you), you can apply for promotion within an year
(I have a friend who gets promoted in her 3rd month)
to be promoted to a store manager/division manager and so on will take a lot more time and contribution ( 2 years for each position at least )

I think the best about starbucks is that they do care about part time workers.
We have health plan, stock option, a free bag of coffee bean or tea box per week, 40% off on partner shopping week and 30% on the usual days, and they are all available for part time workers.
I enjoy working at starbucks, but it takes a little bit of luck to have a great store manager(Thank you Mike:)

I work at the starbucks in Canada, and the compensation is almost $10 per hours.
I get as many hours as I want, and it's also very flexible at my store.
Frankly, I think starbucks have great pay-roll as a part time job
P.S. Don't forget the tips and 1.5~2x salary on holidays!!

working at starbucks is fun.
once you've worked for, let's say, 3 months, you become a family member with the co-workers and, most importantly, with the customers too.
the work itself is not complicated, but requires a little bit of innate quality.
however, you can always find a place in starbucks. For example, if you like talking, and you have a great smile on your face, trust me, you will own the register. If you don't like to talk, but you have good memory, you can be on the bar side and make all the good drinks.
one thing is that, if you have been scheduled to open the store, you have to wake up really early ( or don't sleep ), which is the p in the a for most of people.
