I am a 2nd year consultant with Navigant. It is true that a big part of being a 1st or 2nd year consultant here is making binders. But, that does not mean that is everyone's path. I have made less than 5 binders in my last year here and never had to work a weekend. I have gotten to do real analysis that has even become final work product. My mentors and managers always take the time to sit down and teach me something I do not know how to do. I have learned so much my last year here, and it is because of the people I work with and the opportunities they give me. If you speak up, you will gain the best work experience and learn more than you ever learned in college.

Travel greatly depends on the project that you are staffed on. Most of the work is done at the office. If your office does not have much work, then you will be flown out to cities across the nation to help out busier offices. The great thing is that Navigant pays for everything, so it's like a mini trip to another city. You'll work at another office for four days and fly back home on the fifth.

Navigant strongly emphasizes quality control, so you will be constantly checking Excel equations with a calculator and will soon have your favorite red pencil for checking off correct and incorrect equations. As a first or second year consultant, the build of your work will be quality checks and binder making.

As a first year in the company, I make binders, enter data, and do quality checks everyday. This means that I check excel calculations with a calculator and check them off if the calculations are correct. Yes, extremely boring! I get billed out at $200 an hour! That means that I make $200 binders!

As a new employee, the work will all be grunt work. Most of the work will be doing document reviews, sitting at your laptop doing excel work, or sitting in a room filling out binders, binders, and more binders.
