=An overall view of Monitor Group?>
There is no up or out policy within the firm. You can advance as quickly or as slowly within the firm as you want. This is great for the company culture because there is no cut throat mentality and everyone tries to help each other move up within the firm. The stress of having to outperform your peers in order to advance is also not present.
The culture is welcoming and supportive. The unique thing about monitor is that it has an entrepreneurial culture as well. I have done well in the company and am given a lot of responsibility because I deserve. I compare myself to my peers in other consulting firms and I have much more responsibility than them.
As a Consultant, I'm paid $65,000 with end of year bonuses of $27,000. As a top performer, you will get huge bonuses. If you don't perform well, your bonus will be poor to none.
Traveling at work varies depending on the client. Like any consulting firm, we do travel to the client site when necessary to gather information or to give a presentation. I like that we don't have the 4-days-at-the-client-site policy. It gives me a great work/life balance and I'm able to manage my schedule very well.
Monitor is a great place to start your career and then go take to business school. Monitor professionals that are alumni from the business school you wish to apply to will help you out with the application process and business schools look highly at Monitor professionals. The company does a great job at training you and preparing you for your future career.
The office culture is very positional, but at the same time, everyone manages to have fun in and out of the office. I have hung out with my peers at many happy hours and company events.
Monitor Group is truly flexible with the work that we do. We don't need to travel to the client site unless we truly have to, we can take work home when necessary, and they give us the opportunity for a fantastic work/life balance.
The company is very committed in making sure that the employees have high moral and are happy with their work. The firm has great communication among the Partners and all the way down to the analysts. There is no stiff hierarchy and you feel that the company thinks your important.
The culture is very relaxed and the people are very nice and friendly. The work hours are very decent, about 60 hours a week, which give me time to maintain a good work/life balance.
I am a Consultant and receive 60K in salary and a year end bonus of 20K. My signing bonus was 5K. A great perk is that we get breaks during Christmas and News Years. Love to be able to spend time with the family.
It is relatively difficult to get into the company. Though we are selective, we have hired from non-top business schools. You don't have to be from an Ivy League school to get into Monitor, but you do have to show great potential and the ability to bring great results to clients. The interview process is very tough and you should feel proud if you get an offer.
