We work an average of 60 hours per week. We do travel to the client site, but our traveling is for a purpose and we don't do it just for the sake of traveling. This is great because we travel less often and it gives us more of an opportunity for a good work/life balance. The company is open to letting you work from home.

The culture at the company is very collaborative. When a consultant is inbetween projects, he or she will always help a team that has a lot of work to do. This eases the amount of time you work on projects and helps the consultants not work long nights or on the weekends. There is a strong feeling that everyone in the company must work together - if the team does well, then the individual does well.

The projects are very team based. There are 3 to 4 people on each team consisting of a Senior, Manager, and one to two analysts. The analyst will perform analytics and write up reports that the Senior and Manger will user. The great things is that because the teams are small, the Analysts get a lot of facetime with industry experts who they can learn a lot from.

Mercer gives you some great work/life balance. The dress around the office is business casual and everyone at the office is friendly. I don't have any major complaints, and am happy with my office environment.

I was an intern at Mercer Health and Benefits. Overall, it was a good experience. I can leverage the consulting name in a lot of different industries and I know this will open many doors. I did not accept the full-time offer because I felt Health and Benefits was too static and mundane for my taste.

The people here at Mercer are generally friendly. We have a pretty good work/life balance because we don't really need to travel to the client site. A lot of the work is done in the office, which allows us to have personal time to ourselves after work.

Dress is business casual around the office. We get casual Fridays and get to wear jeans at the office. If our clients require it, we do wear business professional at the client site. This gives a very relaxed feeling at the office and helps everyone to feel more like friends rather than just colleagues.

There is not an up or out culture at Mercer. There are people in the company who have made it to top management without needing to get their MBA. Mercer gives you the opportunity for advancement if you show that you're worth it and have the ability to produce great results. There is also great training at Mercer: presentations, regulations, industry practices, and many other things that you might be interested in.

Mercer is recognized as one of the top Human Capital Consulting firms in the world. The name is recognizable wherever you go, and the training and experience is great. I feel that I am developing greatly on a professional level and am still undecided of whether I want to get my MBA or not. Either way, I will stay at Mercer for years to come.

I travel about 25% of my time. Even though I'm only occasionally at the client site, I get great client exposure. This is because I am constantly on the phone with executives of clients that we are working for. My peers at other firms travel A LOT, but rarely do they get exposure to executives of companies. Travel may seem exotic, but it gets old quick. Mercer does a great job at making you travel only when you need to, but at the same time, you get the amazing client exposure that you want.

Mercer puts great effort in hiring talented people and then keeping them for a long time. They spend a lot of energy training each Consultant so that they can quickly move up within the company if they deserve it. The company allows for flexible growth and everyone can set their own career path. You are not pressured to move up unless you are ready.

Each consultant at Mercer Human Capital receives a lot of individual attention. The office is relatively small, which results in a tight knit group of people that genuinely know and befriend each other. There are many strong personal relationships and colleagues hang out outside of the office as well.

It can be tough to get into Mercer; however, I would not consider the people top of the top. You will find very smart, fun, ambitious people from all universities across the nation. We do not limit ourselves to Ivy League schools and offer everyone a chance to work at our company.

The people at the company are very friendly and up beat. There are many social gatherings that help promote a close company culture. When you're first hired, you are assigned a buddy and a mentor. Your mentor can be helpful depending on who you get. It is mostly up to you to take the initiative and get the most out of your mentors.

Mercer has a "clients first" mentality. We work very long hours to ensure that we do the best possible work for the client. The dress code around the office is business casual which allows for a layed back mentality. We work hard, but at the same time, have plenty of room for life outside of work.

You do not need to have an MBA to move to the top ranks of the company. I absolutely love this! You get very high quality training at the company, so you basically know everything an MBA would know just from on the job and corporate training. Promotions come very quick to top performers.

I worked as an intern in the Health and Benefits division of Mercer. The work was very dry, not creative, and very mundane. The aura surrounding management consulting does not included Health and Benefits. You are basically an underwriter for a company, which is not exciting at all. You have no room for creativity, you are basically told to do everything the "Mercer" way.
