The culture is not great at this company. You have no freedom to go above and beyond in your position because you must do everything the GT way. Any effort to try to make things run more efficiently or try to do something a different way is frowned upon.
I like GT because of the people I work directly with. I do not get along well with the executives. They almost never show up to after office activities and never invite the Analysts to events that they are throwing. I think GT would be a better place to work at if there was more unity between the hierarchy in the firm.
I do not look up to my managers. They don't lead well and don't provide any guidance or mentorship. The office systems seem really outdated and we are definitely not a pioneer when it comes to technology. This is a very elitist company.
The people in the office are great. Everyone is friendly and easy to get along with. I'm a second year at the company and I am friends with everyone at my same level. However, I am not close with any of the Management. They usually keep to themselves and hang out with other management only.
Depending on the group you are in, the culture is significantly different. There are overarching guiding principles across the firm but within your group, there is much freedom to voice yourself and make a name for yourself. As in any other firm, you have to know the players and make the right moves. It's a bureaucratic corporation.
The hours are extremely long during tax time. There is a lack of communication between the management and the first and second year analysts. When I do work, I always feel like I'm behind and that I should have learned something else before doing this project. The inhouse training is not great at all.
It is not hard to get into the company at all. I found the interviews to be very easy, and the people that I work with are not the most intelligent. I will have to say that we do know how to throw a party on the weekends, but overall, I wouldn't say that the people at GT are of the highest quality.
The training at GT is not top-notch. I felt that the in-house training was boring, and not relevant to the work that I was doing. After taking a course, I usually forget everything that I just learned, so it pretty much doesn't serve me any good.
I felt like the company culture was constantly changing around me. There seems to be a lack of training in the company and not many professionals have GT pride.
