You really can't find another company with a better culture! It is innovative, engaging, and rewarding. Employees are given insight into the company goals and are trusted to perform.

My work is both interesting and rewarding. I help put together marketing proposals, supported by industry research, to the top entertainment companies in Southern California, including Sony Pictures, MGM, Fox, CBS, NBC, Netflix, etc. I feel trusted yet am constantly challenged. We are constantly provided with a wealth of knowledge and training.

Pay is usually not that great - below market salary. However, they now give out Google stock, which will become real google shares after the vested time period has past. They'll also match restricted stock offers from other firms if they are competing.

Google is growing non-stop. I have been with Google for under 2 years and have seniority over 73% of the people. But more importantly, Google offers multiple training sessions and career consultants to help employees figure out the best career path for themselves. I meet with my manager one-to-one on a weekly basis to discuss career growth. Promotions are offered every 6 months, and the average promotion time is 2 years.

As a decent level management person, you get around $130,000 with mediocre stock option packages.

Most of the jobs here are in customer support, and people get very sick of it. Engineers do decent work, but the rest is boring and grinding.

Salary is WAY below market, and stock options are pretty week. Since the stock price is so high, each person gets about 10 stock options per year (and that's not free stock, just the right to buy a stock at the price during the time!)

After a whole bunch of intellectual tests and intimidating interviews, you become customer support and spend the whole day answering emails and calls from angry advertisers. It's quite a dead end job and does not in anyway make the perks worth it.

What position do you work? If you applied for an administrative position, I guess the work can get kinda mundane.

Google is competitve within the industry, offering a decent salary with tons of perks. I am satisfied with my overall compensation.

Somewhat strange, but Google works really hard to recruit female techies. They apparently put in a lot of effort to make that happen. But who can really blame them?

Growth here isn't that great, since customer service jobs don't get promoted much. Also, kids who are a few years out of college often become your superiors, regardless of how many years of experience you have.

If you are talking about the business side of things, Google is really not as glorious as it sounds. People are super competitive with each other and will trip you if you are very successful. Most people who take advantage of all the perks are frowned upon, so they're not as good as it sounds from the outside.
