Growth in the company is very difficult. The middle managers work hard to prevent you from promotions. There are a few departments with high turnover rates, and if you can survive the grind there, it would possible to become a supervisor or such.
I called 1-800 flowers before and got a really annoyed person on the phone. He was not helpful, didn't suggest any flowers for me to get, and just seemed like he wanted to get off the phone the whole time. I feel this reflects the culture of the company (the internal culture). If you're having a good time at work, then you'll be pleasant with your customers. If you hate your work, then you'll take it out on the callers - which is what he did
The work here is not that great. People tell you to do a lot of grunt related work, and don't appreciate it. Perhaps the work would be more barable if the culture was more interesting.
Compensation is quite regular, besides the fact that a lot of the extra hours you work are not paid.
The culture is very casual in dressing, but the hours are not. Employees usually work a little overtime without compensation. Managers don't treat employees very well, and it is hard to really do good work here.
