Okay, the hours are LOOOONNNNNG and the stress is HIIIIGGGGHHH. But the results are a balance between the 'bleeding edge of technology' and 'tried and true methodologies' that produce real revenue generating products. That's not a bad definition for best of breed. The collaboration is great!

There are amazing internal training opportunities. There are also fantastic on job experiences available. Both of these you have to go after yourself, often on your own time. As for salary - it's not bad, but it's not stellar either.

Getting hired is hard. IBM has hired very few over the past several decades, and most are contract short term workers.

Promotions are hard because IBM is top heavy with brilliant hard working engineers.

The culture is friendly and helpful, teams are driven hard, but towards a common goal that benefits all of us.
