From the insider point of view, it does not seem to be very competitive for the unpaid interns. However, it would probably be different once they start hiring full-time workers. It is also clear that there are certain types of people that would not be accepted even as interns.
Right not this is an extended internship for a lot of people, but if the company starts growing and earning money, it seems possible that current interns will be considered for a full-time.
The company is based in LA, so all communication with people outside the area is done though Skype. People are very friendly and accomodating, they understand your time pressures or special circumstances
No compensation but the benefits are totally worth working for the company!
The weekly "lectures" - powerpoint presentations of marketing techniques and interview tips are absolutely great! Jun really prepares for those meetings, asks for feed back and your personal areas of interest
The FD Team works hard to make sure all of its members are compensated as much possible given the limited resources of a startup.
The most valuable part of the job is all the experience gained and responsibility given

FD doesn't just take anyone. They take bright minds and people that can motivate themselves. The interview process involves several interviews with differnt people from different departments.
We don't get paid anything as interns but what we learn is very valuable. The knowledge that others can share with us on being part of a startup company is something we can use years from now
We get alot of fun projects. If we don't know how to approach a project or get started we get alot of help from others. Team culture helps to promote working as a team and thinking out of the box
FD is growing everyday. We have new ideas and fresh faces joining our team. There alot of great developments the come along in our projects all the time.
You have to be smart and hardworking to get in. They like the spirit of entrepeneurship!
The people are really cool. We have a good time together and its exciting to work together.
The pay isn't high but the experience is priceless.
As a small company, there isn't much of a hiarchy to grow within the firm yet. However, the company is growing really fast and there are ample opportunities to growth with the organization. Strong performers in the organization become recognized, and when there is an opportunity, will level up within the firm.
I make $0 an hour, but double pay for overtime!
I didn't even get interviewed!
This is a great place to learn from people with experience and also to learn more about fields that you might be interested such as consulting, marketing, advertising, finances. Not only are you helping build a great network, but you are at the same time you are learning about other things.
this is amazing

Interning for FD allows you to put to use a lot of the things you learn in the classroom. Jun makes sure each meeting is as useful to us as it is to him.
Although there is not a lot of supervising as an intern, I like the feeling of independence and that I control the work I do. I like the culture and the professionalism while maintaining a fun atmosphere.
Late nights. Good times.
It's easy to get in, but you get out what you put in... getting the internship position was fairly easy (which makes sense, they aren't paying me and it doesn't hurt to have another soldier pushing your name).
time will tell I think. The companies too young to have a rigid corporate hierarchy you can climb... If it takes off, I feel that some of the top interns might be offered positions
